2020 | 4 / 5 yearsUK ReceptionUS Pre-KG | When I taught at this school, the Chinese administration treated the foreign staff very poorly. They were also supportive of certain 'favorite' staff who were sleeping with multiple parents from the school. The curriculum was 'self-created' by the school and it showed. It did have clearly established levels of learning and contained numerous spelling and design errors. There were a myriad of inconsistencies from unit to unit and it was often unclear what students were meant to learn from the lessons. Units were not scheduled appropriately and too much information was expected to be learned per lesson. Indeed, enough time was not provided for learners to actually take in the amount of information in each lesson and unit. Furthermore, assessments and unit tests focused on memorization, rather than overall learning. These tests were implemented to prove the success of the curriculum, though they were not effective. Children from ages 2-5 should not be taking tests to determine what they can remember. The foreign administration provided extremely low salaries compared to other schools in the area. Salaries were also not fairly distributed and 'favorites' were paid higher amounts or given random promotions throughout the school year. Finally, the Chinese administration would spring events on the staff and demand these expectations be met, though appropriate time was not provided for these tasks. If you are considering sending your child here, I would reconsider as the curriculum is not effective and the standard of learning is low. The facilities are also not maintained and very run down. |
